Jamie's Italian - Vivo City HarbourFront Walk Singapore

We went to Singapore a month ago and decided that this trip shall be a trip for culinary purposes - thus we decided to forget about weight loss for a while and have a go with anything delicious.

One of the few interesting places that we visited is Jamie's Italian in Vivo City Mall in HarbourFront. We've just finished our exciting trip in Universal Studios and, after spending a long time walking and queuing, we decided that it is a good idea to enjoy a nice food once in a while.

It's a very interesting place located just next to the harbor with a very nice view of the surroundings. Definitely the kind of environment you'd like to enjoy to chill out - and a nice place for a cup of coffee.

However, it is clear that we are not here for any coffee at all - we want something Italian!

We ordered one appetizer and two pasta since we were relatively hungry at that time.

We start with the Baked Mushrooms - which is Swiss browns with crispy “music bread” & smoked buffalo mozzarella as explained in the menu.

The mushrooms taste relatively fresh, however the bread underneath is somewhat soggy and the overall taste is somewhat bland - too bad.

One of the pasta we ordered was the Truffle Tagliatelle. Now, this stuff here is very amazing and rich in flavour. The truffle gives a very extravagant flavor and aroma, with just enough sauce to make it tasty and moist. This is a definite must-try when you're visiting the restaurant.

Next is the Pappardelle with Meatball. The pappardelle is rather unique with a wiggly shape - which actually gave it a rather interesting texture once eaten. The sauce is rich and fresh, and the meatball is also quite juicy - this is also a must try in the restaurant.

All in all, we spent around 80-90 SGD for the whole experience and will definitely return there. While eating we saw other delicious meals, and we might just want to give some of them a try in the future - after all, this is Jamie Oliver's restaurant.

Toscana Ristorante - Kemang

People said that unforgettable moments are best celebrated. For us, it is best celebrated with a nice Italian dinner.

I admit, looking for a nice Italian restaurant is neither too easy nor too hard. We prefer something that is not quite common, but not too remote as well. The place was easy to find, all you have to do is look for Jalan Kemang Raya in Kemang, South Jakarta and find number 120. Not that hard actually, as it is located right next to the road.

Then we found this jewel called Toscana.

We went on weekdays, thus we didn't need to book although I would suggest to book beforehand just in case. The restaurant was very home-styled and with relatively good service. A perfect choice for both business and romantic dinner. Trust me. Ambiance is also very supportive, not too noisy and relatively calm on that day

We were served complimentary bread with butter, a classic Italian style. The water was also free-flow so you actually have the choice not to order any drinks.

As the appetizer, we had the Merlanzalle alla Parmigiana (eggplant) and Cheese Salad, both have this tiny little tomato with some kind of fish stuffing in it. Very delicious.

The portion of the salad is not too much, we think it is quite fulfilling and serves right as an appetizer. The dough balls served in the salad were DELICIOUS. Unlike some other restaurants, the dough balls were fried and they were very crunchy.

The eggplant is a bit cheesy-tasting, however  in general it is OK.

For the main course, we chose the Fettuccine Con Sugo di Polpette and the Dory fish. While the Fettuccine seems like a mere pasta with meatball, I can assure you the taste is delicious and the meatball was very meaty and juicy.

For the fish, the portion itself was quite okay for a main dish, and I think the chips added more to the uniqueness of the dish itself. It was also served with lemon sauce and black pepper.  Overall, the fish itself was also yummy to some extent.

Then, the final ordeal : PIZZA

We ordered pizza Rustica. Yes yes, we did not finish all of it and I saved some for my breakfast tomorrow. Very delicious and rich pizza with a thin crust. Those who likes thin crust pizza would definitely love the pizza served here. It is unfortunate that by the time we eat the pizza, we were rather full, however we could still tell the goodness of the pizza.

Finally for desert, we had the Tiramisu and Milano ice cream. While the Tiramisu is just quite OK and taste like common tiramisu, I I found the Milano quite unique, as I never tasted something similar before.

Price was quite competitive with around Rp 400K, considering we ordered a full course meal including pizza.
